The Blues Overdrive is regarded as one most exciting and fastest rising acts on the European blues scene right now.
Receiving raving reviews from major music publications from over the world. The band’s latest album ‘Clinch!’ recently won the ‘European Blues Awards ‘Album of the Year‘ when the award winners were announced during the London Bluesfest in O2 Arena.
The album Clinch! includes guest appearances by blueslegend Duke Robillard (Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Fabulous Thunderbirds) and Chicago great Joel Paterson and has received extensive airplay on blues radios all over the world and has been named ‘Album of the Week’ on programs both in the UK, Australia. In the United States respected California blues radiohost Rick Keyes even named this album ‘One of the best three albums of 2015 period!’ In addition, an overwhelming number of great reviews and a nomination for the Danish Music Award. Europe’s leading blues magazine Blue News receipted with 5 stars and the words ‘There is, quite originality and melodic drive of this band as it is easy to become obsessed with.’
In 2012 their debut album received the award for ‘Debut Album og the Year‘ by the renowned German music magazine Wasser Prawda and back in 2003 beat The Blues Overdrive won the prestigious anniversary competition in the Scandinavian blues mecca, Mojo Blues Bar in Copenhagen.
On stage, the band exhibits a high musical level with the two guitarists Andreas Andersen and Martin Olsen in front. Their musical understanding is almost telepathic and is aided by the solid backing from the Texan bassplayer Brother Birck and Swedish drummer Louisian Boltner.
The band contantly balances on the knife’s edge – where both musicians and audience has to be on their toes and where the next moment is unpredictable and exciting! They get the sounds of the past to sound like the future. With a stylish mix of elements of classic Chicago blues and trance-like and hypnotic delta grooves they are living proof of how blues music can be played in an exciting modern form.
As one of the most sought after blues acts in Denmark they have played numerous concerts in recent years. Among them counts many major international festivals and tours.

In June 2017 they released their latest album ‘Overdrive Live’. As the title hints it is a live album recorded live-to-tape during one of Denmarks biggest festivals Smukfest this past summer. The album includes live renditions of Overdrive classics like ‘Three Time Lover’, ‘High Water (For Charley Patton)’, ‘Everybody Was Rocking’ and ‘I Was Wrong’.
And also this album won the award “Album of the Year”!
